Back to School 2024

When shopping for your child’s school shoes remember these simple tips to ensure the best fit:

1.      Get your child’s foot measured regularly

2.      Ensure toes can wiggle freely in the shoes

3.      Allow 1cm between the big toe and the top of the shoe

4.      Get fitted by a trained sales assistant and/or get the shoes checked by a Podiatrist

If you’re looking for a helpful checklist for buying school shoes – look no further!

The Australian Podiatry Association has put together this printable checklist to help you decide on the right school shoe for your child and how and when a podiatrist can assist.

Dr Phil Spark & Dr Jess McConnell are volunteering this weekend at the Surf Coast Trek which is a fund raiser for Give Where You Live and Kids+. The hike has two distances one over 40km and the other is 28Km. Blisters are a real thing and we can help you on the day at one of the first aid tents. If you would like to prevent some blisters and prepare your feet for the event then check out this short video.

Onyfix Toe Nail Bracing

What is Onyfix?

Our Podiatrists at Werribee Foot Clinic have all completed their Onyfix nail correction training. The system is a completely painless treatment of almost all forms of involuted and ingrown toenails. Our Podiatrist’s Philip Spark and Michael Randles can apply the treatment during your appointment and the whole process is pain-free. This can be an effective alternative to toenail surgery. The procedure has been performed successfully in Germany for 3 years and now Werribee Foot Clinic is bringing Onyfix to Wyndham.

An initial assessment appointment will be required to assess your suitability for Onyfix. Photos and measurements will be taken at this appointment and your podiatrist will advise you of the procedure and costs involved.

How does it work?

Our Podiatrist will adhere the Onyfix resin to the base of your toenail which will then be cured to the nail using an LED blue light lamp. Once the product has adhered to the nail it gently lifts the edges of the nail, making the edges flatten out and decrease the curvature of the nail. This will then stay in place until the nail has grown out (this can take up to 12 months depending on the growth rate of the nail). There are no restrictions to your activities post treatment, you can swim, exercise and wear your usual footwear without any risk of damage to the product or decrease its effectiveness.

What are the benefits of this treatment?

The Onyfix system is a less invasive and painless alternative to toe nail surgery. It may not be suitable in all cases but our Podiatrist will assess your suitability and advise accordingly as to whether the Onyfix product will be effective in your situation.

Please call the clinic to make an appointment for an Onyfix assessment.

Fungal Nails New Treatment

Fungal nails are a common condition that can cause discolouration, embarrassment, pain and skin infection. Tinea that commonly occurs on the skin of the feet and between the toes can also cause these unsightly nail infections.

We are proud to introduce a new and proven technology to our clinic which has been used in the United Kingdom for some years with great success. The technique involves drilling many holes in the nail approximately 0.4 mm deep so that an appropriate anti fungal can be applied to the nail and actually penetrate to the nail bed where the fungus thrives. Client often persist with application of anti fungal without success owing to this fact.

The specially designed computer controlled drill ensure we can penetrate the nail without penetrating your toe. No pain no bleeding.

Call now for an appointment to have your nails assessed.
